MIRG, the Mesothelioma Information and Resource Group, is aimed at providing comprehensive information to victims of mesothelioma and their families. Mesothelioma is a terminal cancer of the lung and abdomen, and it requires more specialized treatment than other cancers of the lung. Mesothelioma is a direct result of exposure to asbestos fibers.

Organization devoted to defending our common assets (air, water, etc.) -- the assets that we all own together and none of us owns individually -- against corporate and government abuse.

Here's how Common Assets defense Fund describes it:

"Common Assets Defense Fund is fighting to protect our collective wealth by stopping ripoffs of our common assets. While other organizations work for parts of the commons - the environment or the education system - only CADF campaigns to stop ripoffs across issues and movements.

"Corporations and individuals who deplete and mismanage our collective resources for their own gain pose clear and present dangers to the health of our economy, our communities, even our bodies. To add insult to injury, the exploiters of common assets not only refuse to share monetary profits with their co-owners but, more often than not, they manage to swing lucrative deals that wind up costing the average citizen in terms of health, time, and quality of life. In other words, they take assets that aren't theirs, profit by selling or otherwise exploiting those assets and, in the process of doing so, create secondary costs borne by the average citizen.

The materials on Animal Rights Law Project website include selected documents from some of the legal and regulatory actions litigated by Gary Francione and Anna Charlton. These actions involve: the right of a student to object to vivisection or dissection in the classroom; hunting and wildlife issues, hunter "harassment," wild horses, animal sacrifices, and animal care committees. The website also offers on-line handbooks concerning freedom of expression and housing issues involving companion animals. In addition, the website offers various essays and journal articles on animal rights and animals and the law, and information about books written by Francione and Charlton. Finally, the website contains various state and federal laws and regulations.

The Chemicals Policy Initiative site, administered by the Lowell Center for Sustainable Production, contains information, documentation, and analysis of emerging European and international chemicals management policies, as well as links to key organizations, agencies, and documents.

Advocacy, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation funded by the United States Congress to protect and advocate for the legal rights of people with disabilities in Texas.

The Center works to provide the resources necessary for the assessment of questions of environmental justice and to make this information easily and widely available, especially to those whose interests are most at risk. The Center is a fully computerized, modern facility that provides access to a variety of environmental databases relevant to environmental justice, GIS, legal research tools (for example, WestLaw, the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), and the U. S. Code (USC)), and national (international) communication capability on environmental justice matters through INTERNET. At least five terminals with access to these resources are available during the Center's operating hours. The Center also offers periodic environmental justice training workshops and seminars. Waste to Wealth is a program of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance. It offers research, information dissemination, policy development, technical assistance, and education, promotion, and training on waste reduction and recycling-based economic development.

RecoveryWatchdog.org is a project of United for a Fair Economy. The web site tracks layoffs, tax cuts, bailouts, and war profiteering. It provides "action alerts" to help you influence Congress' recovery plans.

Reaching Critical Will's goal is to maintain a centralized electronic repository of information, and information services on its website. Reaching Critical Will is an initiative from the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom that started in 1999 with a single focus: to increase the quality and quantity of non-governmental organization preparation for and participation in the 2000 Review of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Since then, the initiative has expanded to provide primary resources and information around other disarmament fora, namely the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, and the General Assembly First Committee which is focused on Disarmament and International Security.
