Scientists and medical authorities are urging the use of non-toxic methods of mosquito control and the avoidance of spraying mosquito adulticides. Media have often failed to report the hazardous aspects of pesticides being sprayed to people and the environment, thus creating an information gap. This December 2002 update-report shows developments during the past two years since the initial report was published September 2000. The Maryland Coastal Bays Program, an enviromental program in Worcester County, Md. sponsored these reports.
The Harbor Estuary Program (HEP) is a National Estuary Program authorized in 1987 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The program is a multi-year effort to develop and implement a plan to protect, conserve, and restore the estuary.
